Yesim Saldivia, LPC

On a Personal Note

Hi, I’m Yesim (pronounced Yeh-shim).

My name means Jade—a stone associated with balance, grounding, and protection. In many ways, that reflects the kind of space I aim to create with my clients.

I’m a second-generation Turkish American who grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After living and traveling in different states, I found my home in Colorado—where the mountains and nature continue to ground and restore me.

Taking care of myself matters to me, not just personally, but because it allows me to show up more fully in my work. When I’m not with clients, you’ll likely find me spending time with family, friends, and animals, or doing things that bring me back to myself—reading, gardening, cooking, yoga, climbing, hiking, or traveling. I tend to value both depth and play—quiet, grounding moments just as much as spontaneity, connection, and a good laugh.

Becoming a therapist didn’t feel like a single decision—it felt like a natural unfolding.

I’ve always been drawn to people’s inner worlds and the depth of the human experience. As a child, I was often told I was “too sensitive.” Over time, I’ve come to understand that sensitivity as one of my greatest strengths.

That part of me shows up in the therapy room—it allows me to attune, notice what isn’t being said, and meet clients with genuine care and compassion.

We all experience pain. And at the same time, I’m continually struck by people’s capacity to grow, heal, and make meaning out of what they’ve been through.

Over the years, that curiosity and care have shaped the way I practice and the work I’m most drawn to today.

Yesim Saldivia, therapist and trauma-informed counselor in Fort Collins, Colorado

On a Professional Note

I’ve been in the mental health field for over 20 years, and for the past 8, I’ve been in private practice—work that genuinely feels like where I’m meant to be. It’s a privilege to sit with people in vulnerable, often messy, very human moments—and I don’t take lightly the trust that takes.

I work with adults navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions. A lot of what people come in for didn’t just start recently—it’s often rooted in earlier experiences or relational wounds, even if it doesn’t look that way at first.

My approach is holistic and trauma-informed, which means we’re not just talking things through—we’re also paying attention to your nervous system, your body, and the parts of you that have had to adapt to get you through. I integrate EMDR and IFS parts work to support deeper, lasting change—not just insight, but shifts you can actually feel.

I’ve been trained in EMDR since 2008 and became a Certified EMDR Therapist in 2022. I’m also a Consultant-in-Training, offering EMDR consultation to therapists, and I provide therapy intensives for clients who are ready for more focused, in-depth work. I am already IFS-informed and will complete my Level 1 IFS training by the end of April 2026. This modality continues to deepen how I support clients in connecting with and understanding their internal world.

My goal is to help you make sense of your patterns and experiences so things don’t just make sense—but actually start to feel different.
